About the Author
Inspired by Nature
Brook Lenker received his bachelor's and master’s degrees in Geography from Towson University. He is a lifelong conservationist and currently directs the nonprofit Keystone Trails Association. Brook previously held positions with FracTracker Alliance, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and Dauphin County Parks and Recreation. Those roles – and volunteering for other environmental causes –provided memorable nature-based experiences which inspire his writing. For many years, Brook was a regular contributor to Susquehanna Life magazine. When not writing or exploring the great outdoors, he enjoys practicing ‘the land ethic’ at his home along the Yellow Breeches Creek in central Pennsylvania. Brook is proud to be involved with his local watershed association and the Susquehanna River Trail Association, which he helped found.
The Restorers
May 2019
Take a literary river adventure this summer!
Two years after a divorce, Reily Watters lacks direction. A 556-mile canoe and kayak expedition on the Susquehanna River offers diversion he can’t pass up. But when a real estate development threatens their river, Reily and his new friends must decide whether to take action, or just keep paddling. Will his convictions be strong enough to make a difference. What will it take to save The Heights? Can this Odyssey protect not only the environment… but restore Reily’s solace through love? Set in 2004, The Restorers blends the brash wildness of Jack Kerouac with the ecojustice of Carl Hiaasen and the riverine peace painted by Mark Twain.
Published by Year of the Book Press, the book is available in paperback for $14.99 and for e-reader for $4.99

I started the story in 2004 and never stopped writing. College coursework, personal explorations, and work experiences took me to the Susquehanna and other rivers. The immersions made a lasting impression on my soul and psyche as did the people encountered on the journeys. Some were temporary acquaintances, some became lifelong friends. I hope The Restorers entices you to take to the water, go with the flow, and make a difference. Be on the lookout for Reily Watters... he may just have another adventure on tap.
